As of this month I have been in the business for 33 years. I have learned a few things about my style, mix & sound. I know that there are all kinds of dj’s out there. Some are up and coming & wowing the crowd. Some are in their prime & believe they are the best and there are some who just need to know they should think about another kind of work. Finally there are dj’s like me who have seen it all and done a lot of work in the business. I think you need to practice & record your mix to hear what you sound like. You need to know that is it o.k. to have a train wreck once in a while to remind yourself you are not perfect. The bottom line is to feel good about your sound.

Here are a few things to think about:

  1. Have the right equipment
  2. Practice your mix where ever you can
  3. Record your mix & listen to it
  4. Realize that you are always learning

These 4 tips will help you be the best you can. There are all kinds of dj’s like I have said so be the jock that keep there ego at bay & help others along the way.
