On March 20, 2015: This happened and here are the comments
DLK DJ Services: So I get a call from one of my good friends letting me know she had a Groom in her Tux shop saying their dj bailed on him. Their wedding is Sunday & she asked me if I was able to do it & yes I had that time available. They needed a dj for 6 hours I gave them my price for a 4 hour gig to do 6 hours. He said no on the spot. It just goes to show everyone is a bargain hunter down to the last minute. I do feel bad they lost their dj but at the same time, I don’t feel I have to give a deep discount just to get a gig. I did give them a break but maybe they are strapped for cash. I did leave my information with them…….
Friend: Don’t make a bargain that is not good for you ! Gosh I think they would have jumped at it ! Really ! If I was in a bad spot I would have jumped and added extra that you would do on such short notice ! Unbelievable !
DLK DJ Services: Well I didn’t get the gig anyway but this is all good advice The other dj bail because of lack of payment & excuses from what I have found out anyway Ah the #DJlife
DJ: I’ve learned a valuable lesson as a designer. Your price is your price. If you charge people the right price you will not have to chase for the next deal. They will come to you. You will also have enough money to sit out the garbage when you don’t need to deal with them.
DJ: I have that all all the time with brides and grooms and birthday parties and parties and people calling me price shopping asking me to lower my price is lower my price is low my prices you know I asked him is free free good enough and then act like you just crapped on your shoe but if you walk into Advanced Auto or autozone or anywhere else and you ask him to lower the price lower the price they’re just going to say no to you so why do people feel that it’s okay to do that today jay entertainers to bed and everybody that’s in the entertainment business its always lower your price lower your price price price is what it is you don’t like it oh well
Later on I found out the groom lost their dj because they could not pay on time with the contract they signed & wanted to change the deal at the last minute from a Karaoke dj to just a dj to save money. I believe that the following is true:
1. Stand by your price
2. Offer solid service
3. If the client is booking you last minute payment should be paid in full on the spot
4. Price gouging is not the answer but being fair about the way you do business is.
