I have been hearing a lot about automated receptions meaning the Ipod concept. Is there a right time for this idea? The answer will surprise some of you coming from me the DJ. The answer is yes! Not all weddings or events require two turntables & a microphone. It depends on the focus of the event. If your not having dancing & a simple introduction of the Bride & Groom is all that is needed & maybe a cake cut then no a dj is not the best idea for this event. If it is all background music then most places will have a house system you can plug into. Now on the other hand if your focus is the dance floor & all the bells & whistles that go with it are in place then Yes a dj is required. The more you add to your event with things to do the more you need someone with a microphone to keep things on track.

The rule of thumb is this: If you use an ipod remember it does not think. It will not change the play list to fit your mood. It will just play what you program it to play. The dj will keep pace with your crowd. They will keep your timeline top of mind. The big thing is to really ask yourself what is most important to you for the event you are putting on. At the end of the day it really is that simple.
