You are close to the end of working with your dj for your big event! You are looking over your requests & dedications. Did you remember all your favorites? Did you think about your guests? You might be thinking you are not going to let folks make requests, if that is the case did you think about what your family & friends like to listen & dance too? If you didn’t you might be making a huge mistake! Yes, it is your day but not everyone may like the music you like. In some cases your music may be the reason why people don’t dance and leave early. You can’t blame the dj for your requests as they are doing what you ask.

I would like to make some suggestions based on events I have done. First make a list of everything you want. Second make your top twenty have to be played list. Third make your do not play list. Now look at your guest list & think about their age & what they like. Start with your grand parents. What did they dance to back in the day? As you go through your list you will have a solid start to how to make the day fun for all.

Next the order in which it is played is important too. You know the older folks & kids will be the first to leave so play the music they like first. Make them happy & then they might stay longer to dance with you during your top ten! The point is to show your guests with the music you have played that they matter too. Most of these people are family & that is the biggest reason why.

Last remember you can only play an average of 20 songs an hour so leave some room for requests. At the end of the event you may just tell the dj to play what ever people want anyway. You want the party & you want folks to be happy so let the party out as they say! It’s your day your way but it is also about two families coming together as one!
