wanted to talk about knowing who is competition and who is a network partner in the dj world. In any business you have folks that will refer business your way & people that would not even think to help you out. How do you figure this out? One way is to offer your services and see if they bite is they have any extra business to share. Another way is to refer business to them and see over time if they return the favor. Another Idea is to do projects that help everyone & include not exclude anyone. Try to set a meeting to see if they are willing to talk to you as well, if they do not bite then you know the answer. There are many way to build Like, Know & Trust the key will be over time. Like any business not everyone will come to the table but that is ok as you grow you can learn from these folks how they really operate. You can learn do’s & don’ts along the way. The key is to be able to make yourself a go-to person when they have no one else to go to. Make sure you treat them with respect win this dose happen & not a situation to gouge them. They will have more business for you as time goes on. Another key factor is remember the price you except is the price. Don’t get up set that you have a lot of work but the money is not what you want. If you are working for other dj companies they have their pricing & jobs set in the way they do business. You have not right to get up set if the deal you made is not what you want. You will have to suck it up as they say. I think the idea here is to know your standards & how you will help & be a team player. The gigs come when they come and as I always say if you don’t work you don’t get paid. It is a team effort after all to make the wedding or event rock……… Like know Trust & have fun!
